Shrimp or no shrimp in the tank?

Hi,

as some people know. I've already set up my tank and putting Cherry Barbs and Glowlight Tetras in it. But then, I visited an aquarium store near my home and shrimps caught my eye. I was wondering whether I should put shrimps in my 15 gallon aquarium with the barbs and tetras, such as Cherry Shrimps? Or other kinds of shrimps.

I also took note about my power filter. My filter current isn't really strong but I'm a bit worried that they might enter my filter and get sucked in if they're too small. So should I buy a few shrimps or stay with my plan (4 Cherry Barbs & 4 Glowlight Tetras)? Please help!

Cover the filter with a small filter sponge. It's what I do to keep my colony of RCS safe!

Shrimps will be fun!

Just give them plants and maybe a hunk of Java moss to climb around in. They'll love it!!

Cherry shrimp and ghost shrimp are both good choices for a freshwater setup. Cherry provide more color, but ghosts are not without their appeal.

As far as whether or not to add them; why not? You don't have any outright shrimp murderers in the tank. If you got some Java moss, it would help the baby shrimp survive the attention of your fish.

Erm, my tank is filled with plastic plants because it's hard for me taking care of real live plants and sometimes invites algae to my nice, beautiful tank. What else can they eat besides plants?

Yeah! I agree! Cherry shrimps are nice and they're not really expensive in my country. How many shrimps can I buy? I'm afraid they'd eat each other or fight.

You could easily put 10 or more cherry shrimps in there. They will not eat each other.

I would really try and get some live plants for them. Java moss and Java fern will survive even in minimal light and the moss is a source of both food and shelter for them.
