29 gallon planted tank

I recently purchased a 29 gallon tank and have been working out an idea of what fish to add. This is what I'd like to do (if possible):

1 angelfish
5 male guppies
8 tetras (preferably neons)
and a snail (mystery or gold inca) to control algae

This will be a planted tank.

From what I've read, if you start with a small angelfish, they will usually be okay with the guppies and tetras.

Is this properly stocked or should I have less/more/different fish? The one fish I definitely want is the angelfish, the others I'm somewhat open to change. Thanks in advance for any help!

Big fish eat little fish! When an angel gets large enough to fit a neon in it's mouth, you might find your neons are disappearing.

Personally, I would get larger, non-nipping tetras like Bleeding Hearts. They go very well with angels. Lemon tetras are nice as well.

Mystery snails can grow as big as golfballs, eat plants and make enormous messes. I would get a bristlenose pleco instead. They do poop a lot, but will keep your tank totally algae-free!

The male guppies are a pleasure, but the angels have a tendency to nip, which will cause the cuadal fin of the guppy to tear, and eventually result in Finrot. The neons should be okay, it's my plan to add them with angels too, and the snail should be gold inca. As for the guppies, try black neon tetras, they will have an almost surreal contrast when they shoal together with the neons.

Unfortunately, I can't find any BN plecos locally. I have seen ottos, but don't they need to be kept in groups?

Try corydoras catfish. You can get away with just two and they don't get too big.

I have cories in another tank and they're such cute little guys but they don't eat any of the algae.

yeah, mine dont either, but they can be fun to watch. i've also heard of some plecos called zebra plecos. they get to be about 4 inches, and i dont know if they do OK alone, or if you need more than one. you should check them out, they look neat and they SHOULD eat the algae.(i would gladly trade my two albino cories for one of those, then i wouldn't have so much algae)
