Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

36 gallon stocking?!?!

Would this work?

Tank size: 120X30X48(cm)- 139.08 litres or 36.75 gallons
Substrate: small gravel

pH: 7.3
Temp: 25 degrees (78 Fahrenheit)?)

Fish:

X2 Dwarf gouramis (Colisa lalia)- 3 inches-8 cm

X2 pearl gourami (Trichogaster leeri)-12 cm

X4 Cherry barbs- 3 cm
X4 neon/cardinal/black neon tetras-approx. 2 cm-1 inch

X2 hillstream loach/Borneo suckers- 6 cm-2.5 inches

X4 kuhli loach-9 cm

X1 bristle nose pleco-12 cm

37 inches of fish (not including kuhli loach)

Air stone/wand at back of tank for decor
Amazon sword, Anubias or Crypt on driftwood...

Could anyone suggest some more plant species-which are hardy?

Depending how much light you have java fern, java moss, water sprite, African fern, pennywort, and hornwort. You might want to check out http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide.php this site has helped me a lot.

My suggestion would be, for the Dwarf Gouramis, make it 3 instead of 2, and in a 1m:2f fashion. Of course with a tank that size, having two males may be fine too.

Personally, I would either eliminate the tetras or eliminate something else so you can have more tetras. They might be okay with only 4, but you won't see the nice school behavior. Also, most tetras are more like 1.5-2", rather than just 1". If you do the 3 DG's by my calculation you have 45.5" of fish, so something would need to go anyway.

You may also wants to take out the hillstream loach, unless you are equipped to properly house them: they need careful care, including a strong water current (which the Pearls may not enjoy) and really high oxygen levels. More info is available here: http://www.loaches.com/articles/suck...rneo%20suckers

Regardless of what you decide, good luck!
