Going to be setting up our new aquarium this weekend and get the cycle started. Been doing a lot of research on what fish to get for a 16 gallon bow front and have these in mind:

1 or 2 Dwarf Gouramis

5 to 7 Neon tetras - depends on how many of the Dwarf's I get.

I would plan to add the DG's when the cycle is complete and then the Neon's a couple of weeks later.

Does this sound like a reasonable way to go? If my calculations are correct that should put me somewhere between 13 and 15 inches of adult fish, depending on the mix.

2 only get one because they are very territorial and one might kill the other

The 7 neons sounds good.

Okay, so stay away from the Dwarf Guoramis for now. When the tank is ready will it be okay to put the 7 neons in or should I split them up and get 4 and then a couple weeks later get the other 3?

Any other suggestion for tank mates for the neons?
