What fish should I get?

All my fish had just died from my aquarium maybe because I didn't learn about the nitrogen cycle info. Well, now i have and planning what fish to put. I just need to buy the aquarium water test kit (which I'm saving money for) and a new air pump (my old one's noisy, parents complain). I've been breaking my head on what fish I should get! I was thinking Neon tetras but not so sure. Maybe Guppies but they make the tank dirty fast. My objective is a nice beautiful aquarium with beautiful fish! I just don't know what fish to get... I want a unique fish that would be pleasant to look at and calming to the mind! Fish that don't swim fast, or slow. Fish that are cheap. Fish that don't dirty the tank fast (so i don't have to always to maintain it) Fish that are small. And fish that can live long! lol

Somebody please help!

once we know what size tank you have we can help you.
oh and your tank needs cleaning even after the nitrogen cycle every week so you'll always need to maintain it unless you mean doing water changes every day.

Hmm.. what fish are cheaper in your local market? I think Tetras or certain more-peaceful cichlids may be what you'd like.

Hi peacemaker92
Have you seen danios , or more important can you get danios ?
They are my favourite little fish.

Based on the length and width , the tank would be in the 10-15g range unless it is unusally tall.

I think it's 12.5 gallons or more... Not so sure... I took measurement, 21 inches long and 12 inches wide

You could get a nice little school of cherry barbs ( i have been saying this to everyone) but they are really fun fish! they are so active all day long, they try to swim up the filter current. or you could always go with the betta and a few cories, that might be pretty sweet too.

Now that you've learned the hard way about the nitrogen cycle and don't want a lot of work, I hope you'll be doing a fish less cycle. No water changes...just feed the tank, test the water and let it do it's thing.

Once it's cycled and add fish, weekly maintenance should be all you need to do.

Fish that don't swim fast or slow? You mean just kind of hang out?

There are several types of tetras that would be nice.
I have neons and serpae, I love them both.
Take a look at some of their profiles: http://www.fishlore.com/

Good luck.

Cherry barbs sounds nice! I'll look into it and see how much it cost in my area! Thanks so much!

I found a few fishes!! :)

OK, i was thinking and looking through Fishlore. Would a few Cherry Barbs, Sepae Tetras and Zebra Danios be good in a 15 gallon tank? I'm kinda interested in one or two of these fish...

no problem, any time. I would just go with the cherrys and serpaes so you dont over stock your tank and the two groups will be more comfortable, but thats just me.
