I want to start off with cherry or tiger barbs. The proble is I dont know which to choose. I want to know what my fellow fishloreians think. This will be the first batch for my 38g tank.

Cherry barbs are more peaceful, I think. Other than that, I think that the biggest thing is which you like better.

You won't be sorry! Cherry barbs are delightful, and the males are one of the most intensely coloured freshwater fish around.

I have 2 males and 4 females, and that's a good combination.

Don't be put off by the pale fish in the petstore. They'll colour up nicely once in their new home. They do like a lot of plants to make them feel secure.
