I found this chart and thought it might be helpful to share the URL... http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/f...lity_chart.cfm

It's a decent chart. It's helped a few times. Unfortunately, it doesn't explain what "with caution" means for each pairing. Aside from that, it lists bettas as compatible with numerous notorious fin-nippers.

Hmmm, should I delete the post?

Red Minor Serpae Tetra

Can anyone tell me if Red Serpae Tetra will get along/school if mixed with a slightly different Serpae?

I have 3 Red Minor Serpae Tetra (short fins) and would like to get 3 of the LONGFIN Red Minor Serpae Tetra but want to make sure they'll work together. I have read that fish will try to school with other fish that look like them so I would assume they would school with their longfin cousins, but I could be wrong

Here's a link with a side-by-side picture of both...

All the Serpaes will be okay together, although the long fins may look a bit ragged from the inevitable nipping. Keeping them in larger schools in bigger tanks decreases aggression.

However, your tank is too small for all those fish.

I am currently under bioload (7.5 inches if my four fish were full grown, which they aren't) for my tank so adding the 3 additional Serpaes shouldn't be a problem. I am adding the 3 new Serpae to increase the size of the shoal so that they'll be happier.

So, you're saying they WILL school together?

No reason to. Just because it isn't complete, and just because there are a few inaccuracies, doesn't mean it isn't useful. As I said, I've used it a few times. It's just good to have extra info to go with.
