I'd like your expertise, please..

Since our tank had the catastrophic turn, I'd like to ask for suggestions. We have a 140 G bow front tank. These are the fish that survived:

1-Pink Tail Challis
2-Discus
2-clown loaches
2-algae eaters
3-rummy nose
1-glow light
3-cardinals

So, in another tank{10 g}are 6 cardinals and 6 glow lights.
It is a planted tank. We are slowly removing the rock{as per the suggestions/threads we read here}and replacing with Driftwood.

I/WE really want to do it the right way! Thanks for all your support and advice.

Hi Mary, I'm happy things are turning around for you.

Your 10 gallon is overstocked
6 cardinals 12"
6 glow lights 9"

21 Inches of fish, so I would move the glow lights to the 140g (if you have room) so your little guy has company, as they are schooling fish. (I didn't check the compatibility with the other fish in the 140g)

6 cardinals in the 10g is still slightly overstocked, but manageable with frequent water changes.
They are such pretty fish.

Good luck.

Hi Lucy. Thanks for responding. We were going to hold the cardinal and glow lights in the 10g for just a few days, then put them in 140g. The size of them right now is approx 1/2". We're testing the water daily w/API . Geez, I sure don't want to screw up again. We've been keeping up w/water changes. Is this dangerous if I move them today or tomorrow? I want to do the right thing.

Also, how long should I keep new fish in tank before I move them to our 140g Display tank?

Ps...I should have noted that the Glowlights and cardinals will be moved to our display tank{140}. We put them in the 10g to Quarintine prior to large tank.

They should be fine in the 10g for a few days, with frequent water changes, just keep your eye on your water parameters.

I think it's recommended that you keep them in Q tank for 2 weeks, then introduce them slowly to your display tank, like 2 or 3at a time every few days so the bacteria can catch up.

It sounds like you have things well under control.

I can't wait to see pics when you are done.

I'm glad your Discus made it! Just remember, when problems happen no one blames you, or thinks less of you.....because the same thing happens to all of us...

Thanks ! I loved the profile...going to show my husband.

Do you think I could add any other fish to the 140g? I want to make sure everything is cool...
