New fish lover with stocking questions

Hi all,

New to the fishlore site and the fish world. I have had my 125 gallon tank stocked now for a couple of weeks. I have the following:
5 Tiger Barbs - 2 Gold Gouramis- 2 Pictus Catfish-2 Bala Sharks -2 Plecostomus -2 Amazon Leaf -- and waiting on a Black Ghost to arrive at the pet store so that I can add him as well....Ok this is my question ?

I saw some Tiger Oscars and was wondering if I could add one or two to my tank, when I asked the pet store one employee said no and one day another said yes because the oscars were smaller then the fish I have. So I'm so confussed as to getting one or two, I surley don't want any of my other fish to get hurt or worst if I incorporate the oscars into their home.

Also how many other fish can I have in my tank I have been enjoying this tank so very much and would like to add others if I could.

Thanks in advance for any information you can submit.

with your stock, oscars aren't the best idea when it comes to tiger barbs. And your bala sharks, you're aware of their eventual size, correct? (14 inches at the max). And is that a common pleco?
If so you stil have 38" worth of fish to play around with. Take care to not overstock and mix fish according to temperments as well as eventual size. Good luck

Thanks for the info. Too bad I really like those Oscars. Yeah I checked out the size of all, the shark weren't my idea but now they are there so ....The Pleco is common. Any ideas of other interesting fish to add?

Did you call me a "Fish Freak" ? If so why?

Hi dbridge ..welcome to fishlore!! the oscars will eventually eat ALL the fish smaller than them..and most are except your pleco..oscars will grow way faster than your bala's and eventually snack on them also..they are great fish to have tho...just not with smaller species...goodluck!

As people get more and more involved with fish, to normal people we are fish freaks, but most of us are blissfully unaware of this because we have other fishlorians to communicate with. Its a joke.

I would reccommend getting a few more tiger barbs that way they wont get nippy.

To Shawnie,

Actually, WE are two different people just letting you know. But yeah, no fish freaks to anyone, just our signature

Joke OK - Like I said new to this site and the fish world. I'm just glad I didn't do something to promote the freak deal. Ha Ha
