Cichlid Tank
Well, here's my plan:
75 Gallon
Fish I REALLY want,
1 Angelfish
2 or 3 Bolivian Rams (do they need to be in groups?)
I'm up to other suggestions for a nice, peaceful Cichlid tank. I'd prefer fish to be on the cheaper end (under $15 a fish). Those are my only requirements, I'm open to any and all suggestions

What would you suggest for some, common, not very aggressive Cichlids?

Hi Konaboy
I thought that I read a previous thread you started on stocking your 75g tank .... wondered what was different this time around?
here is the link to the thread you started on stocking the tank

Yeah, I was researching, and decided that a purely Cichlid tank is what I really want. Sorry for starting a new thread, if it's not too much trouble, you could delete the other one if it's bad for the forum or something

Thats ok.. I wont delete it, its just that sometimes 'double posting" gets confusing when it comes to replying.
As far as an all SA cichlid tank, you have to decide if you want large cichlids or dwarfs. You really wont want to mix the two, as they can be aggressive to the smaller d.cichlids. And the larger SA cichlids would fin nip your angelfish as well, I know, its happened to my poor angel and I just had to move her.

So if I have Rams and Angels, I'd want to stick to the smaller side right? If I just got one male Firemouth (so that it wouldn't be aggressive when spawning), would that work okay?

You would be better off with keyhole cichlid than the firemouth. I have a firemouth and it pretty much chases all the other tankmates and vice versa. They can be pretty mean, I dont think I would chance it. In my case, my firemouth is very small right now just under or about 2 inches and it chases everyone. They all have nipped tail fins but so far the cardinal tetras have been spared. I know that wont last long and I will have to move them to another tank as well. I bought bolivians last week and wouldnt think of putting them in the 55 with those other cichlids. they are in a 29 g with more peaceful fish, a Discus and an Angelfish and two rainbow fish.

Okay, so I'll be on the lookout for Keyholes. I know for sure I can get Angels and Bolivians in town, but I'm not sure about Key's. Bah, even if I can't, understocking isn't bad :P Am I right on the numbers so far? 1 Angel, 1 M and 1 F Ram? How many Keyholes?

You have plenty of room for fish in that tank...
You can start with an Angelfish, 1male ram, 3 females or more.. you can get cardinal tetras which are a SA fish, for your SA tank. There are a lot of tetras that are SA as well. You can go with two or three Keyholes. You can go with German Blue rams as well if they carry them in the store. Petsmart or the chain fish stores have australian rainbows, and I mention them again, only because they are a fun fish to have in the tank, they grow nicely and are one of the most peaceful fish I have seen and owned. Their colors are drab looking in the stores, but when they are in a tank and are happy they really color up nice. And they swim all over the tank and would get a long with all its tankmates.
