Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

need help picking plants

alright so im a beginner when it comes to planting live plants in the tank. heres some general info about the tank. its a 95g tank with a bio-ball filter 3 air stones and i want to say pea-gravel for the bottom.

type of fish:
2 balas
2 angelfish
2 blue rams
and a school of something.
clean up crew stilll to be decided

i am going to plant my tank before i add fish to it because plants require a little less attention and dont really get lonely like fish. i heard a 50-watt light per 25 gallons for a grow tank so i am looking at 2 100 watt 30" fixtures running realtivly cheap. if i dont seem to have the lighting right please tell me what would be the right amount.

also some easy to take care of great first plant recommendations would be nice. i really want something to cover the whole tank 60" L x 18" W.

Thanks

Planted tanks are awesome and don't need to be expensive to be beautiful. Here's a great article to help you get started with your planted tank. We want pictures when you get it planted!

If you plan on using pea gravel remember to use some sort of root tab for fertilizer if you get heavy root feeders like swords or crypt. You can grow awesome plants in low light with out CO2 or fertilizers. The list of plants on the link Gunnie posted is always a great choice to start with. Remember we need pictures of the progress!!

would two of these lights be enough light for my tank? 2 of the 24 inch ones http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...ductId=2754543

it would put me just at 1wpg on my tank. its the only one i can find that give me decent light with out cost a couple hundred.

90g * 90% (10% = volume) = 81 gallons 80watt lighting = 2 * 20w bulbs * 2 fixtures

20w bulbs are the highest i can find for that size.
