Stocking 5 gallon

Well, in addition to the 29 gallon I have, I do have a 5 gallon that's cycled, but there's nothing in it. In fact, I was going to restart up the filter today to get the water cycled and do a little change, and allow a little time for any mini-cycles that are going to take place.

However, I would LOVE to put SOMETHING in it...my husband wanted to put frogs but I want fish...I see others have a betta in theirs, but is there anything else I can put with the betta? Just for color sake (it has a natural colored gravel substrate and some real plants) I would like a male betta. Or are there any other colorful, interesting fish I can put in it? This tank will probably stay downstairs in our bedroom/playroom, or I may take it to my job and keep it on my desk (I'm a teacher).

How about bumblee gobis? Or dwarf puffers? I don't know much about them but I saw them at my "L"FS (it's not local, but worth the drive)

With dwarf puffers, you'll have much the same issue as with a betta (male OR female). It will need to be alone. They're aggressive and territorial, just like bettas, from everything I've read on them. I think they're cute, though, and I'll end up getting one at some point.

If you want to read up on them and see if their needs match what you're looking for, we don't have a profile for dwarf puffers yet, so I was directed here for more information: http://www.dwarfpuffers.com/

You could put dwarf rainbow fish (pseudomugil gertrudae) in there. A small school of 5 or 6 would be fine. They are pretty and very active.

They need a lot of plants though and very small food like baby brine shrimp, daphnia and finely crushed flakes.
