Stocking 8G

Got 8g tank wondering what to stock this with. Do not want tetra's or danio's as already have schools of these in 30g and think school would be too small for 8G so generally no schooling fish.
Atm obvious choice seems betta and just seen an amazing white pearly betta@LFS which i liked but fiance prefers brighter coloured blue and red ones.
Also looking at Otto's as lfs has too many and tank if fully mature with algae.
Cory Cat's seems to like there own company so do not know if they would fit.
Also looking at invertabrates of shrimp, snails and frogs. Like african dwarf frogs but like snails not so much but shrimps seem neat.

What would fit in 8g without being overstocked? Betta with shrimp + frog? Cory's and Otto's? What would you stock with 8G?

Betta would be good.
Shrimp might be good. They'll do fine in the tank, and they won't add to the bioload, but they'll need a lot of hiding places, like Java moss on a rock. When they molt, they are easily eaten by bettas.
Frog might work, too. Make sure it's not the clawed kind (they can hurt your fish). Also, the frog should probably be in the tank first, so the betta is the "new guy". However, be prepared to pull the frog if the betta gets belligerent. I have seen pics of a member's betta/frog pair that literally slept together, one on top of the other, and played around the tank during the day.

I wouldn't do either cories or otos in such a small tank. You could fit them (a few dwarf cories and a few otos), but they're both pretty sensitive to water quality, which is difficult to maintain in a tank smaller than 20g.

I'd go for the betta and maybe 3 shrimps.
