Need your suggestions for stocking my 10g

I have a spare 10g that I want to get running. I attached a Paint picture of how I plan to decorate it. I drew it with Paint after all, so don't make too much fun. I'm wondering what you think would look good in this 10g tank. Thanks for the opinions.

Hi!

A Betta and 3 Otos! Both lovely species. I might advise leaving a little bit of space for the Betta to breath at the top.

Or, make it a Nano! Ember tetras are 0.80", Pygmy gouramis are 1", Edeler's livebearers are 1.5cm, and there are lots more tiny little Nano fish! I think Galaxy rasboras are one - not an expert on them though.

I'll have to look into the Ember tetras. Thanks for the reply.

Hi!

You could probably have 12 Embers in there without overstocking.

I would not suggest otos in a tank this small. They are extremely sensitive to changes in water quality, and many members have had issues with keeping them alive in such a small tank.
A betta would love a 10g planted, as would a small cloud of tetras (if you're lucky enough to find the embers, that would be great, otherwise, black neons, neons, or cardinals might all be good choices). If you go with livebearers of any sort, I would suggest getting only one gender, as a tank that small could quickly get overpopulated, especially if it's planted, which would give the fry places to hide from cannibalistic parents.

I just got 8 dwarf rainbowfish (pseudomugil gertrudae) for my 10 gal.

They're very pretty, active and certainly small enough. I recommend these, any other gertrudaes or Threadfin rainbows if you're going to have your 10 heavily planted!

I don't think that I've ever seen dwarf rainbowfish or Ember tetras in any of my LFS here. I kept three Oto's perfectly healthy in my other 10g before. Right now I'm leaning towards a betta, or possibly dividing the tank and going with two. Thanks for the suggestions. I will keep a look out for dwarf rainbowfish and Ember tetras though.

It's not that it can't be done. Just that it's difficult. I couldn't keep my otos alive for more than a few months in my 10g. Considering they can live for a period of years, a few months wasn't all that long of a time.
Ember tetras are pretty rare, so it's not surprising to have trouble finding them.
