Aquarium Stocking Questions Use this board for aquarium stocking questions. Do NOT follow the 1 inch per 1 gallon of aquarium water recommendation that you will often hear at the local fish store. Stock your freshwater aquarium lightly and sensibly and if you need help with stocking your tank post your questions on this aquarium stocking board.

From what I've heard, Angel fish don't play well with others.

However... I have 2 dwarf gourami's that were established in the tank, then we purchased an itty bitty baby angel fish. She seems to be doing well, she's not agressive and the gourami's aren't agressive towards her. I've found that the tank heirarchy and who was added when and at what age, makes just as much difference as the characteristics of the fish breed.

It can work on occasion, but very often ends in fighting.

Like Calamity Jane mentioned, it makes a huge difference when and how old the fish were when added. If you put them both in when they are young and have them grow up together it'd be better, as well as putting the more aggressive one in afterwards so she/he can't think that they're the ruler of the tank. Also make sure you have plenty of hiding spaces. If you do it right, I'm sure it'll work. Good luck!

Definitely get a small angel fish. That's what I did and it's working well, my dwarf gouramis leave her alone and she's too small to start any trouble with them, LOL.
