The sad part is that people that are "concerned" about their fish's health that keep them in bad conditions are never going to listen, because, usually, in their mind we are fanatical fishkeepers that want to keep ours in a plastic bubble. (Some people do go that far, but sadly, by and large, it is just misconceptions and miscommunications.)

Good buy on the 55g.

You're right Chief! most of the people in my area laugh at me and my friend Tony when they see us keeping 1 or 2 fish in huge tanks! they say we could have kept 5 or 10 fish in those tanks, most of the people r still illeterate about fishkeeping! even my GF sometimes laughs at me.........it's embarrassing

heh.. Sorry that you GF laughs at you Neville... ask her if she would like to spend a month in a small bathroom with 5-10 other people without being able to leave. I doubt if that'd help though, and she might just think you're more weird and crazy.

That's too bad. I think with the concept of infinite waste in a finite space should be considered a myth. It's nothing more than numbers, pure & simple.. only so much waste can be supported by a closed system. Simple Biology.

Well, they think the only waste is when the fish poop, but they don't realize the fish are continuously releasing waste.

Walmart sells a 55 gallon tank with everything including filter, heater and stuff for about $150

on the other tangent that was going on, I like how my boss describes why you need to do water changes he says, "Your tank is nothing but a toilet." I love the looks he gets when he says that, it's funny

thank you, thank you. i'll post pics if my plants ever freaking get here-- i ordered them on 2/22, but of course it's too cold where the nursery is to ship them and being in florida, i never even considered that...
