| Opinions on stocking for 50G tank Hi in 3-4 months time i'm looking to buy a 50G tank. at the moment my stocking list would look something like this:
1 rainbow shark
1 BN Pleco
2 Angelfish
4 German Blue Ram's
8 Rummynose tetra's
By my calculations that 50" of fish, would this stock work in a well planted tank? are there any better options? or any major issues?
all comments appreciated.

| Everything should work...but I'd keep an eye on the rainbow shark..they can be aggressive. |

| Hello Jack,
Your stocking plans sound great. Your red tail shark will not get as large as other sharks and by itself it should be fine. I wouldnt add any other sharks to the list tho.
Good luck on getting your 55g tank! ~ kate |

| You'll want to keep an eye on the Angels and Rams too, should they get to breeding. |

| Hi all, two things:
firstly which of the following schooling fish would work well with angels:
-Cardinal Tetra
-Rummy Nose Tetra
-Black Phantom Tetra
-Lemon Tetra
-Neon (Dwarf) Rainbowfish
-Emperor Tetra
-Threadfin Rainbowfish
Also i've been looking at this tabk on ebay, its brand new, can you tell me what you think: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/240ltr-1-mtr-...QQcmdZViewItem Last edited by jack11; January 6th, 2008 at 05:02 AM.

| all tetras will be fine with angels, but i wouldn't recommend rainbow sharks, angels may fight them, as both r territorial. |

| That looks like a really nice tank, I'm just not sure how it compares to prices in Australia. |

if i got this i would probably alsop add a 500-1000 l/h internal filter. decoration wise i would guet a huge sunken ship (around 18" in length and 10" tall) and go for fake silk plants wrapping around the back ands side. |

| Maybe you can get some neon tetras and some platys. Guppies r pretty good fish. They can live long and they are hardy. |

| My moms tank My mom just put a bunch of tetras in w/ her angels and they are getting along wonderful! Her tank is soooo beautiful, I will take a pic and post it tomm. Her tank is the reason I am getting a bigger tank. She used to have african ciclids, they were beautiful too, but w/ them you can't add many fish w/ them (she just had cornpone (her name for her pleco) ). The mean mom was going to give me the tank then she changed her mind after I got into fish and wanted to start up a tank again, so I got money for xmas to buy up tanks and fish.... (thats okay every home my kids go to mom, and both grandmas thanks to me have fish and my 2 year old is obsessed!) Last edited by Angela_96; January 8th, 2008 at 12:22 AM.

| A few questions as i come closer to buying the tank.
1. what is the best number of angelfish to keep?
2. would 1 bn pleco be enough to keep a 55g clean if i have cories as well?
thanks all. |

| The pleco mom had in her 29 got HUGE so she only needed that one. If I am understanding corys right they eat more fish food than alge? I would maybe get 2 plecos. |

| They'll only keep it partially clean but I think 3-4 might be a good number for a tank that size on the BNs, depending on how much bioload you want to leave for the other fish. Quote:

| I have 2 BNs in mine. They keep the glass and everything else free of algae. I will have 2 marble angels in my 55 soon. They are in 30G quarantine until saturday. It depends on what other fish you have in there. I have 2 Kuhlis, 6 Cherry barbs, and 2 BN plecos as my other fish. |

| I think I wouldn't put more than 4 in there to keep them from having too much trouble with territory. Quote:

Good luck on getting your 55g tank! ~ kate | red tailed sharks and rainbow sharks are NOT the same thing... they grow different sizes and act differently... be sure to know exactly what u are buying!!!! red tailed are just that... they have a red tail with a black body... rainbows on the other hand have red fins... BE CAREFUL! heart |
