Sorry, but sharks would not be a good idea. They get big and aggressive. A 28 is too small for a shark anyway.

Get a couple of corys to keep the bottom clean; 3 or more would be good.

This is something you should read about the sharks:
http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles...ark/100090.asp
http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles...ark/100088.asp
(If these are the sharks you are thinking about. Notice that they both need at least 55 gallons of water.)
Otherwise, Black Neons and Tiger Barbs would be OK together, as long as you keep them in groups.

yea, the bloodfins look happy, looking like thier playing thier own type of tag.
so what to add next? I do like the buenos aires, but i guess i would need some fast growing plants...
would like a little more size in there though... maybe 1 biggin', but not too big to have a "friendly" snack.
I've seen a blue lobster before, thought that might be cool. since everything swims kinda quick and stays toward the top. or shrimp.
just wondering on what to get in a few weeks.

How about some gourami, maybe pearls maybe dwarves? the pearls can get to about 4" and the dwarves 2-3" also you should look at some cories or ottos for the bottom of the tank. I had the same problem with my tank, i had 5" left and wanted to get a real centre piece fish.

No need to bump your threads, SF. Most of us cycle through every post made since the last time we logged on.
As far as what to add, a shrimp might work well. If you provide enough places to hide and get a couple of cherry red shrimp, you might even be able to make a self-sustaining colony of shrimp. I don't think the tetras will pick on them (not positive, though, and all bets are off with shrimp fry, which are considered lunch to most things). You could go with a school of barbs of some sort (tiger, cherry, gold, whatever) to round things out. I also like glass fish, which do well with barbs (though I don't know about tetras). Just please try to avoid the painted ones.

Other than each other (normal schooling behavior for them), it doesn't look like it. However, they like eating live foods, and they are very fast, so my earlier claim that you might be able to build a self-sustaining colony of shrimp with these tetras around may have been incorrect. They are large enough and fast enough that they could probably catch and eat the shrimp fry.

awesome, i was looking at the gouramis, i like the pearl and Dwarves. bottom maybe a corycay, but i do like shimp, something a little different, i've only seen ghost, need to check out the cherry ones.
Also thought of maybe a red tailed shark, but might be too big, or just a reason to get a bigger tank in a year!
thanks again, please keep the ideas comming!!!

Shark's too big. If you get cories, you should get at least two. They are community fish. Guoramis are wonderful, too. If you check out aquabid, you can probably find cherry shrimp for pretty cheap.

i think youcould have a great set up with:
6 bloodfin tetras
4 cory cats
3 dwarf gourami
1 pearl gourami
BTW with the gourami get 2 female dwarves and one male, to reduce fighting
