Alright, so I'm starting to get a plan for a heavily planted aquarium. I'm thinking of having microsword as a "lawn" for the bottom. It is a fast-growing plant that quickly spreads.
My question is, do I have to worry about vacuuming what's below the microsword? I'm guessing that I'd just have to vacuum the plants themselves, as they would catch most of the fish waste and other detritus. I'm not sure of this, however, so I want to be sure.

I read that you're not supposed to do any serious vacumming as it will harm the roots. Also, the waste products make good fertalizer. If you need to vacuum the gravel do it lightly above the gravel and disturbe it as little as possible.
