Black leaves

Hi,
Some of my plants have leaves that have turned black (picture plantsblack.jpg). Initially I thought it was algae, because I had a really bad outbreak of the stuff, but I left my lights off for several days and elimiated the algae on the glass and gravel. I have tried to rub or scrape the blackness off but have had no success. The plant doesn't look particularly dead, and seems to be growing although slowly.

I have other plants that seem to be surviving ok (plant01.jpg & plant02.jpg, and one that grows enthusiasticly (plant03.jpg) I also have a couple new plants (plant04.jpg).
and even sends out runners like a spider plant except they never grow baby plants and eventually just die. I don't have a clue what kind of plants these are and my LFS where I bought them doesn't know either. If anyone recognizes any of them I would appreciate any help at all. Or if anyone can suggest plants that would be happier here with my fish.

I have had my 10g tank for about 5 months and it is well cycled and I do a weekly 20% water change. I have added "Nutrafin Plant Gro" The lights are on approximately 12 hours each day. The tank has platies and cories in it and has a temperature of 76 degrees. The lights are flourescent and bright.

Re: Black leaves

Are new leaves coming up from the bottom? Frequently aquarium plants are grown emersed so when we submerge them they lose their emersed leaves. this is kind of what it looks like to me.
