Planting hornwort

Is it better to have my hornwort planted in the gravel or just floating? Will the clippings grow roots?

It will grow best if you leave it floating.

You can also plant a little, but lilke Dino said does best floating. I plant my extra clippings, because I can only have so much hornwort floating before it starts blocking light.
