| Most plants will do well in sand so long as you take care to plant them properly & to perform the extra little bit of maintainance needed. The exceptions are the plants that you would normally attach to something & that's just the way those plants are, not because of the kind of substrate & many foreground plants like hairgrass & glosso, which have small root systems that cannot get a good hold in sand. I have grown the following in sand with no problems:
Valisneria, Broad Leaf Amazon Sword, Radican Sword, Ozelot Sword, Anacharis, Anubius Barteri (many varities), Anubius Gracilis, Cryptocoryne Undulatus, Cryptocoryne Walkeri, Cryptocoryne Wendtii, Water Sprite, Water Wisteria, Ambulia, Bacopa, Tiger Lotus.
Valisneria, Water Wisteria & Ozelot Swords did particularly well. |
