| Betta Friendly Plants I was just wondering what some betta friendly plants are other than Anubius and Java Moss? I picked up some Kyoto Grass while at the pet store and it turns out it is not aquatic...
My tank currently has 2 anubius plants and 3 kyoto grass plants (which are now going to have to be removed), and I have been unable to locate any Java Moss in the local pet stores. |

| Basically any plant is betta friendly as far I know. I've had success with amazon swords, lilies, crypts, ferns, anubias (coffefolia, and nana), as well as Mondo grass (which is doing fantastic after months even though rumour had it that it wasn't aquatic. |

| Thanks! I wrote down the plants you suggested and will head to the store when I get paid on Friday. |

| I've had good luck with all my plants in my betta tank. Rotala, Stargrass, Wisteria, Ferns, Ambulia. I'd say as long as your tank can handle it (i.e. lighting, ferts, co2) any plant would work well with a Betta.
I will say that from my observations, my 2 tend to love the Rotala in their tanks. |

| Hi Jane, great suggestions above. I agree with all those plants as well. Bettas especially love floating plants where they can hide under, so hope you can get some as well. Hope to see some photos soon. Good luck! |

| I agree with peacemake, its a good idea to have a floater for the betta to hang out in. |

| I just bought some java moss, micro sword, and wisteria from an aquatic plant seller online with very positive feedback. Can't wait to get it so I can finish up Dexter's tank! Maybe there will even be a little left over I can put in the 29g. Probably not, but maybe... |

| Bamboo isn't a true aquatic plant. If left submerged, it'll just rot away and make your tank all nasty. Some have had good luck letting the bamboo stick out the top of the tank...but thats not really my personal style.
And out of the plants that the OP picked up, I'd say only the micro sword will need "special" lighting. In general, smaller "grassy" type plants usually have higher lighting requirements. |

| Yes, Micro sword needs brighter lite, Wisteria is a great floating plant...or rooted under good light...and java moss in the shady areas. |
