Cheap Plants

So I am looking for lots of cheap plants for my 90 gallon tank. So far my best deal is all the elodea I got from the lake by my house. Now, I would like some more exotic plants. They have big crypts for sale at Meijer for $2.50. Is this a good deal? I get a ten percent discount because my mom works there. So far my tank has 3 giant Elodea clumps, an Amazon Sword, a clump of purple Cabomba, a large branch of pothos (which does suprisingly well under water), a single branch of hornwort, and a small clump of water milfoil. As for livestock I have 4 koi angelfish, 2 Black Lace Angelfish, and 3 clown loaches. I still plan on adding a senegal bichir, an African Knifefish, and some needlefish.

Have you ever seen moss balls? I have them in my 55 and I love them. They're kinda goofy and they work well for foreground. They're really cheap if you can find them. They also work in just about any light and water conditions - I have one fluorescent light & brackish water and they're still a vibrant green.

Your best bet for cheap plants is to look on the forums and buy something from another hobbyist. In my experience, these have been the best and healthiest plants I have ever bought.

Most people (myself included) would rather sell off trimmings cheap to someone who will enjoy them rather than toss them out.

I agree I have gotten my best plants from people on forums. You might want to check out the classifieds areas on www.plantedtank.net and www.plantgeek.net.

got some plants very cheap today at meijer with my mom's employee discount. Java fern was 5 dollars, water sprite was 5 dollars, and a beautiful bronze crypt for 6 dollars. All the plants are very very very large.

Above is link to moss balls. (Ilovee mentioned) I hope to try some myself should I ever run across live ones. The only ones I've seen in my LFS are floating brown balls. Since they weren't green I didn't buy them.
