Hello Beth. It looks like it's blooming perhaps? I have one anubia (my first plant) but it hasn't bloomed.

yes anubias bloom,(and grow faster) when sticking out of water, mine don't reach top so i don't expect a bloom anytime soon

I agree anubias bloom only when outside of the water line. You'll have pretty flowers soon!

Maybe its just mine, but my anubias bloom under the water.

My Anubias Barteri bloom underwater. In fact I have one blooming now There's a thread around here some where with pics of mine blooming

The anubias i have that blooms under water is a nana, its in with my african cichlids. It blooms under water. I think i have a picture of it blooming on my other computer, i will see if the computer will work long enough for me to find the picture and post it (its having mother board issues).

It blooms every 3-4 months and the cichlids eat the flower but don't touch the leaves.

if im not mistaken, theres a bunch of different anubia's and maybe yours is different than beths?

From what I can see of the leaf it looks like Beths might be A. coffefolia and it is close to the surface.
Mine is A. barteri and is close to the bottom of my 75g loach tank. The clowns also eat my blooms regularly
Here's mine blooming Anubias barteri blooming
Most anubias have short bloom stems but will come out of the water to bloom if given the opportunity.
