Plants and Water Current

What type of water current should I have in my aquarium for my plants? I don't know if currents are good or bad for plants. I have a 75 gal w/ 2 HOB filters which give me a total of 1000 GPH turnover but I was wondering if I should add power heads or something to increase the current. Any thoughts?

Hello Omnitheforsaken. I don't have the answer to your question but I will be looking forward to more responses as well. I'm new to live plants myself.

water current is good for ur plants & will keep them healthy!! with no or very low current algae seems to grow over them and consuming them

as far as how strong it should b, enough to keep the plants moving somewhat. I think it more depends on how big a tank and how heavily planted.

I have a 75 gal thats heavily planted with a canister filter and i have so many plants in it that i keep a powerjet in there too, otherwise the current doesnt make the travel of the length of the tank because its offset from the plants. I have pics in my profile of that tank its pretty dense

Ditto Enthusiasts response. If the leaves are swaying in the current you should be fine. If you notice dead spot then you may want to have more movement. This is even more important with Co2 injection so the Co2 is dispersed throughout the tank.

Thanks all. Looks like I'll be getting a power head or two.
