Bio-wheel and planted aquarium

Hi All,

I need some advice please.

I have a 37 gal Eclipse tank. I have a planted aquarium and I'm not sure if I need to discontinue the integrated filtration that uses the bio-wheel, as it is doing a pretty good job of breaking the surface. I'm not injecting any CO2, and I don't really want to start doing that anyway.

I do have a EHEIM 2213 filtration system on my tank as well. So my question is for the plants to grow and stay healthy, should I discontinue to use the filtration that came with the tank, for the sake of the plants, and just run of my EHEIM 2213 instead?

It's SOOOOOOO much quieter without it :-) LOL

I appreciate your help!!

the simple answer is no.

reason being that it doesnt hurt plant growth as oxygen and co2 are not directly related in an aquarium for the most part. the bio wheel is a very good thing to have... if its to loud you could always go down to a standard hang on wack filter withought bio wheel but honestly they arent worth the difference....

all in all biowheel is better to keep

sry to disapoint you

o and wat plants do you keep... almost forgot to ask

If a second 2213 was added you could ditch the bio. You just wouldnt have enough filtration in my opinion with just one 2213. You want to run 5-10 times your tank size for gallons per hour. If your tank is 20 gallon- 20x10 GPH=200. So your 37 gallon tank is going to need roughly 200-370 gph.
The eheim 2213 is rated at 116 gph.
Hope this helps,
Nate
