Pond plants in Tank

Ok so I have these pond plants that are throughing off shoots. My pond plants are planted in pots with unscented clay kitty litter ( it's good for the Koi they can eat it,it's good for there digestive systums.) So my question is. Can I bring cuttings of these plants in to put in my tank and can they be planted in the clay litter with a little gravel on the top layer of the pot in the tank? Oh also, I have bare bottom tanks so I plant my plants in pots with just gravel in the pots but thought i'd do something different. It's a freshwater community tank. 47gal.

Oh I knew someone would ask. LOL I don't know what they are called. The have long stems and rounded leaves. Not Lilies though. Look like lilies but smaller leaf.

Could you upload a pic or two of them? or maybe try to identify the species in one of these sites:

Once we have a positive id, we are likely to give you good feedback (at least we'll try).

I keep some pond plants in my tanks.

Is this the same plant? Echinodorus palaefolius var. latifolius (scroll to the bottom for best pics of the tall plant sticking out of the top)

It's the floating heart pictured on the second link second page of pep's post. Actually I'm not concerned with the plant. I wondered if the clay would be OK to be put into a tank.

I have heard of people using kitty litter as a planted tank substrate. I would say give it a shot. Just keep an eye on it.
