Plant suggestions for a newbie

Ok I have got two 20 gal tanks. They both have gravel substrate in them. I am looking to get some live plants that will work in them. The one tank has neons, platys, cory cat, pleco, and male guppies. The second tank is going to have guppies only (male and female). Looking for plants that would be easy to get to take off and thrive without alot of extra work involved in the process. Know that this is the place to start getting ideas as I am sure there will be many suggestions along with some good advice.

Hi Sford, just some advice. Guppies multiply very fast! So keeping a male & female can be a lot of hardwork especially in a 20 gallon tank. If you plan to use the tank to keep your fry inside, be sure to have a lot of hiding places for them.

For your tanks, you could go with easy plants such as java fern, moss, anubias or even some hairgrass will do nicely. Keep us updated

what kind of lighting do you have? that will dictate what plants you can grow.

hiya,

i am far from an expert on live plants, but ive found java fern is practically impossible to kill (trust me my tank has been through alot lol) ive also got flamming moss in there, i attached some to a rock which didnt take off at all but the 1 on the bogwood is doing really well! Im going to get some valis too soon as ive heard that is quite easy to care for, and then carpet it out with either some java moss on slate or riccia.
