hey,

not sure if this is the place to ask but if i am starting out with a 50 gal ...should i get live plants now if i am leaning that way...as i am...or should i start out with plastic?

i am hesitant due to inexperience and wish to do what is better now than learn the hard way

Live plants can be very easy to take care of if you get the right ones for your tank. You probably will have low lighting, so I would suggest you get low light plants like anubias, java fern, and java moss. Here's a great article to help you decide if you want to try live plants. I hope you do!

No that's good, plant them as soon as the tank is setup and running. Might I suggest crypts, anubias, hornwort also for easy plants to start with.
