Is my wisteria dead?

I went to move my wisteria yesterday and noticed the stem was really dark green at the bottom and got lighter on the way up. When I started to move it, not up root it, it just snaped or something. Really really easily. I just shoved it back in my gravel lol. Any idea what happened? If you want a pic i wont be able to get one til thursday.

Thanks

Is it (was it) getting light? How much?
I'd say you did the right thing by sticking back in the gravel, see what happens. i think it'll be fine.

Im thinkin like a lime green. Not white or anything like that.
I'd say about and inch of it was the dark green.
Now that I think of it, you know when lettuce starts going bad and it gets dark and mushy?
Looked like that. But right after it looked healthy.

The bottom part melted or rot, that's good that you replanted it. It needs to grow roots!

Might I have my tank too warm? I turned it up to like 82 or so for my cycle.

And would potting help my situation?

I don't think so, my tank was that high over the weekend.

If there's not good water circulation at the substrate level or light can't get to the bottoms of stem plants (wisteria is a stem plant) the lower leaves will rot and some times the main stem will turn black and rot.
