Soon i will start a 38 gallon tank and im going to plant it.
Im pretty sure I cant use my API buffer which has phosphate.
Can someone confirm this

Plants use phosphate but you most likely dont want to add any. If I remember correctly the ideal level of phosphates for plants is between 1-2 parts per million. Most times you will get this from uneaten food. Too much phosphate and you could be looking at algae. So long story short, I wouldnt use it. Why are you buffering the water?
