Planting Dwarf Sag

Hey all, just wondering what your experience has been with planting dwarf sag. I have been able to put the gravel on top of the runners, but the actual plant wants to keep floating! The roots are too small to keep them down in the substrate at the moment. Do I just wait until roots develop more before I can plant?

hi dtree!

i just recently purchased my first few dwarf sag plants myself, and have found some, but not all, have popped up and been floating. I personally let them, but dont know how it'll work out. The others have remained planted.

I've debated adding those lead weights that you can wrap around the base of your plant to help them stay down, just havent done it yet. I'm wondering if keeping them floating where they're closer to the light will help the runners develope a bit faster, then i'll try planting them again if it seems they're growing more.

my advice would be though to just add the lead weights?

I cut the runners apart so I Am planting unattached, individual plants. then I put a small rock on them until their roots develop better. The rock won't hurt them for a short time (week). Hope that helps.

Thanks for the replies! I ended up just keeping the gravel on the runners and when the roots were more developed, they pulled the plant down towards the substrate. They look great now!
