What kind of plant make good "grass"?

What kind of plant would give a good "grass" look at the bottom of them tank ? Do i stick them into the gravel? Do they grow fast? Do the fish eat them?

There are a lot of plants that look grassy. Do you want a tall grass, or a shorter grass? What kind of lighting to do you have (or are you prepared to provide)? AquaBotanic has a decent overview of grassy-looking plants here if you want ideas for what the plants may look like.

If I were to choose a grassy plant for my own tank, I would likely choose Echinodorus tenellus 'micro'

Yes.

That depends on which plant you're talking about, and is influenced by light and nutrients. Some can grow fast under the right circumstances.

That depends on which fish and which plant.

I'm planning to have java moss grow as "grass" on the gravel and the driftwood. I've been reading and most places told not to stick them into the gravel, then how do I get them to grow on it? I have about 3/4 of an inch of small gravels. Thanks

Most people make a Java moss mat out of window screen or similar material. You tie the moss onto the screen and then lay the screen on the bottom of the tank. When the Java moss grows in the screen disappears underneath it.

You could try dwarf sagittaria, depending on your lighting. It looks a lot like grass.

The mat I refered to goes on top of the gravel. You can anchor it down with some of the gravel, rocks, decorations, etc.

I kind of like java moss more, it is more dense and greenier and give you the algae look on you tank, I'll try your method nate, thanks.
