tetras that don't bother plants

I am going to move some fish around and stock my 46G - 36" bowfront with
an angel, some bolivian rams, corydoras and tetras, all starting with juvies.

The tank is fully cycled, has been up and running for 8 months with fish (that I'll move out)
and ready for a full load of these juvies when I do.

The pH is 8.2, KH 10 dh and the GH is 1 dh to whatever is necessary.
We have a water softener, so I can, and do, raise the GH very easily.

I would like to add an appropriate sized tetra in a group or school.
(I'll ask in the cory section about them.)

My main concerns with the tetra are:
#1 the angel eating the tetra
#2 the tetra eating/disturbing the plants

Tetras available locally are:
congo tetra, but have been told they get too large for this tank.
x-ray (pristella)
penquin (thayeria boehlker)
black neon
glo-lite
beckford pencil
but I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks for your time and any input,
alicem

I've seen full-size Congos and I would have to agree. Plus, they are extremely active fish. I'd say 4 ft. tank minimum.
x-ray (pristella)
Would be fine.
penquin (thayeria boehlker)
Would be fine.
black neon
Grow larger than neons, probably fine but might be risky with a large angel.
glo-lite
Same as black neons.
beckford pencil
I've never kept them, but articles I've read say that they are delicate, easily stressed, and best kept in a species tank. Again, that's from research and not from personal experience, but my gut reaction is it's probably not a good idea.

Comments in green. None of the fish you have listed are any threat to plants. Some other options off the top of my head would be:
Tetras- diamond, Columbian, lemon, black phantom, gold pristella (nice gold variety of the pristella, selectively bred to be gold), silver tip. I keep both diamonds and Columbians and pics cannot do them justice. Mine are approaching adult size and have colored up beautifully.
Barbs: cherry, snakeskin (probably difficult to find).
Rasboras: brilliant, harlequin
Rainbows: praecox (dwarf neon), celebes.

Hope this helps.

Oh, wonderful information, harpua2002! Very reassuring that I'm on the right track.
I've been taking notes and will look up these fish's profiles.
Thanks again for your thoughts and comments.
