Do you know what plants they are? Maybe your lights arent strong enough?
I have a ton of plants in my tank and the store never labels what they are so its trial and error as to which will grow in my tank. I have 7 different types at the mo thriving but like 4 other types I tried just wouldn't take, presumably because my lights aren't very strong.

Maybe if you take a pic of them some members will be able to ID them and then you can look up their requirements.
It might just be that the light isn't on long enough, about 8 or more straight hours is usually the amount of light they need.

Most plants also require the propper nutrients to thrive. I suppliment all of my tanks with Seachem's Flourish. Dosing your tank weekly with a liquid fertilizer such as that may help your plants a lot

All great points made so far. I will add one. There are several plants that are sold as "aquatic" but aren't truly aquatic. Names stay away from are purple waffle, aluminum plant, and brazilian sword. (Note not AMAZON sword)
Again pics would help but you could take a look at plantedtank.net to see if you can ID your own. This would help for planting technique and fertilizing as well as light requirements.
Best Wishes,
Nate

It all depends on the lighting as pretty much everyone said on this thread. How many watts is your light? Are they Fluorescent tube lights or incandescent? I have ALL green plants because they don't require extremely strong lighting. I only have a 20 Watts 6,500 Kelvin rating light bulb and good fertilizer which is called "Flourish"

You can go to the aquarium store and ask the people for a light which is more than 20 Watts. And if you have a light bulb with more than 20 Watts then you can be able to grow more plants and you'll have a stronger light.

Can your tank hood put more than one fluorescent tube? Because if your can put more than one light tube bulb (if you know what I mean) then you can put one white and one pink one. No don't go and get the ones with pink tint you have to ask the pet store owners to find you the ones with pink light because it has to be inside the bulb and that gives a very good UV light to the plant leaves and helps with the photosynthesis cycle.

Also. C02! that is essential for photosynthesis!! the glucose is what the plants need for the photo cycle. You can go to youtube and find videos of people making their own C02 by getting Sugar and Yeast.

this video will help you.

and this one:

it's a tutorial.

Good luck!

what kind of lighting do you have? many plants will grow with less then 2 watts per gallon of light and no need for CO2. all of my tanks are low light and low tech and lush. you just need to choose the appropriate plant for the light you wish to have.
im going to guess it was either not a true aquatic plant or that there was not enough lighting.

Yeah I agree with that some plants are not true aquatic like I had green hedge plants and they rotted after a few weeks after being planted into my aquarium. Maybe they need shallow waters. Like what amphibians need to live on. Low Water and a lot more surface air and land/terrain.

Although I haven't wanted to get those plants anymore because they are so much of a mess in my tank and I hated have to pick out the leaves.
