Plant fertilisers??

hey guys,

i have read somewhere that plants need iron to survive/grow. i don't use any ferts at the moment but i recently added some chillated iron. its mixed up in a diluted solution. i put a couple drops in. would this help the plants? or is it a waste of time? any ideas about fertilising plants?

Cheers!

normally you would just go out and buy yourself a fertaliser??

Plants do require iron to grow, but they have other needs (light, carbon, other nutrients) as well. Unless you're meeting all their needs, I have a feeling that just adding iron and nothing else won't have a huge impact on growth.

Chelated iron is iron that was chemically bonded to a compound (generally an amino acid) to make it easier to absorb. SkepticalAquarist has a pretty good explanation here.
