What should I get?

I have a 160 liter (45 gallon) tank. I haven't finished cycling it yet (haven't started properly to be honest since I haven't bought the NH3 NO2 NO3 tests yet - so basically I want to plant them in the start of the cycle.

The light is a pair of 30W white light tubes which produce a LOT of light (I light up my room with them). pH of the water is 7.5.

I'm looking for hardy plants to fill the aquarium with - the aquarium is going to be mostly filled with livebearers.

Obviously my LFS(s) might not have everything, so a list of recommended plants would be greatly appriciated.

What do you guys recommend?

Went to my LFS and asked him for advice.

He gave me a java fern - old faithful

and what he called "Anubias" (Anubias barteri v. barteri is written on a paper)

ADDED: He also suggested I stick the Anubias to a piece of wood, or rock or something, I just put it in the gravel instead.

Opinions?

anubias are great but you do need to make sure that the rhizome is NOT underneath the gravel, i have mine tied to driftwood with string, but fishing line works a bit better.

anacharis and java moss work well too

What's wrong with the rhizome being underneath the gravel?

Hmm, just read something about the rhizome needing light... if i stick it to a plastic decoration, will that suffice?

*sigh* triple post -_-

Here's what I ended up doing. Good enough?

I don't know anything about plants, but it looks nice.

Not to contradict agabr but personally i have not had any problems with sticking anubias or java fern in the gravel. I think as long as you don't bury the entire plant it will be ok.
