3 gallons, 10 watts, good starter plants?

I've only done a teeny bit of research so far, but I thought of putting some Java moss and maybe some anubias into my 3g betta tank. However the light's 10w, is this too strong for these plants (read they like 1.5-2wpg)?? The light's on 15-16 hours per day and I'd prefer not to change that. Advice is appreciated!

Oh yeah I'm totally new to aquarium plants

Best thing to go with is Java ferns. They are very hardy, require very little maintenance, and do not require much lighting. In fact they do better in low light situations.

You have 3 WPG, which is considered High Light.
The java fern may burn in light that high, I'm not sure how anubias would do.

Both Java Fern and Anubias are slow growing plants. Most slow growing plants will develope algae on their leaves with that much light. Over two watts per gallon usually requires CO2 injection.
Here are some high light plants. Maybe you can find one that doesn't need CO2 that you like http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_...er_by=6&page=1

My biggest concern here is that a lot of the high-light plants require CO2 or are rated as 'difficult', while non-CO2 plants and those rated as 'easy' require a lot less light than what I have. I'm not sure a total newbie to plants should start out with 'difficult', and I don't see injecting CO2 into my itty bitty 3g.

Thank you for the advice and links. What I am tempted to do is simply let it all be, as my betta is doing really well with things as they are. I would hate to try something out, have it get mucked up bc I'm inexperienced, and have him suffer bc of it.

I could always save the plant idea for the next time MTS strikes...say with a 55g like I've been dreaming about...
