I was just wondering what other plants i could put in my 20gal. i just put in some java fern but id like to have a bit of variety in my tank. ive only got a standard 15 wat light. i leave it on from 8am to 8pm. also is the java fern in danger of being eaten by my platies?

Anything off this list should do fine with the amount of lighting you have.

The Platies may pick algae or little microscopic crittters off of your plants but the won't harm your plants. They need a little veggie matter in their diet.
