New to plants....

Alright well I finally got another one of my 60 gallon tanks up and running today and would like to make a very large nursery with this one. Ideally it will be a step up tank for all my fry. I would like to know what plants everyone recommends for something like this. I need very low light/low care plants so that I am not disturbing the tank too much. This way my fry have nice hiding spots and can eventually start to replace to fake plants in my other tanks. Well atleast the tanks that dont have fish that wil tear them up. I figure I have about a month to get the tank cycled before adding any livestock. Also this will be a nice breeding ground for my red cherry shrimp.

Mosses are always good for fry and shrimp.Provides hiding places and nurishment (neither fry nor shrimp will eat much)

Christmas moss
Java moss
Pellia
Fissidens zippelianus

Swords and Indian red swords
nymphae lotus 'red'
java fern

These are all good plants, hardy,no CO2 is needed, requires low nutrients. Very good to start a nursery and fry/shrimp habitat. All are low maintenance and beautiful grouped together. On driftwood,or by themselves.

I love planted aquariums and nurseries, these are by far the easiest to start with.

Live plants always look best in tanks
I hate plastic plants they look so unnatural.

Remember, The more natural a tank is the more likely the fish/shrimp will breed

LOL. Sounds good to me

I Hope You Find What You Are Looking For

P.S. Dont buy too much java moss because it grows really quickly and spreads everywhere Just get about 4 "golf-ball" sized clumps and that should be enough and soon it will be about 10 times that amount

Hope This Helps

Yeah I have heard about java moss...it spreads like herpes. I was told it was very hard to get rid of if I ever wanted it out of the tank.
