amazon sword uprooting problem

I have my planted tank with wendtii, java fern and an amazon sword.

when i first planted the sword, i had trouble getting it into the soil but it seemed fine.....

last week i came down in the morning to find it uprooted and floating at the top of my tank, i tried putting it back into the soil but it would just float up again, so i tied a broken stem to a suction cup from an unused thermometer with fishing line and used that as an anchor....

everything seemed fine but over the weekend i started to see more and more of the completely buried suction cup sticking out of the ground, until today i came home from school and it was once more floating at the top of my tank!

i'm not sure what to do, the water from the filter was blowing on one of the leaves so it might of put some leverage and pulled it out but the current is very week so I doubt it.

Fish wise I have 2 platies that don't even look at it, and 6 ghost shrimp that don't bother it.

Does anyone have any ideas?

p.s. I might try putting it in a pot or "plant hospital" if you guys like that idea......

wow... how frustrating that must be. Is the water flow in your tank to high? from the filter outflow

I dont believe so, and its a cheaper filter so it doesnt have a control valve

You say, you planted it in the soil,Do you have any gravel over the soil?. Could be you just need to add some gravel to hold it down til the roots get settled in or just move the plant.

I go through this every morning but my problem is with a 10 inch Pleco uprooting anything it can. Had to put him in a smaller tank and while he was in there he created his own aquascape with the sand. Ended up throwing all the sand out as it always clogged the impeller up on the filter.

Now I have eco -complete for the soil base and roughly up to 4 inches of gravel in spots on top of that.
