I might need some help upon something simple xD

Hi, I have a large 45 cm tall amazon ruffle sword plant, and I can't get it to always root down in my 29 gallon. it's such a pain just to go and dig it down into the ground again.

I don't want to trim it down and then let the plant die please help.

It's perfectly ok to trim the roots. How deep is the substrate?

Well, it is only about one centimeter, but it could be my fault, but some how all my other plants still stay rooted down. Although they have weights, but I don't know if I should put in more gravel into my tanks. My 200 and 350 gallon are about 3" deep, and my plants are still fine, they stay rooted to the ground.

I could, but I don't know it is going to be too heavy on my roots. I want to have healthy plants, besides I have the ruffle sword about 12" high I believe.
