I don't see why not using a
DIY CO2 generator: 2L (2cups sugar+1/2 teaspoon yeast+1/4 teaspoon baking soda+ fill with water until the upper curve of the bottle) soda bottle (sterilize with hot water first) +Plastic only check valve+ 20 oz. gas separator soda bottle (also sterilize first)+ a DIY CO2 reactor (e.g with Hagen Elite mini underwater filter) + a DIY CO2 drop checker.
Fun to do, I have three 2L bottles for CO2 generator, and used another small underwater filter as reactor to inject CO2 in my 4 footer, 45gal +10gal (
sump) Rainbowfish heavily planted tank.
A simpler design, as the one I recommend for your brackish 20gal tank, I use in my Angelfish tank. As long as you keep your water
GH and KH within safe range, I see no problems in using constant CO2 injection of this kind.
An alternative way of "adding CO2" is by using Seachem's Excel product.
