What are the chances???

i bought two small pots of java fern today, i unpotted it and put them into my new planted aquarium, so what are the chances that some snails or something somehow snuck in?

ive been dealing with critters on my live rock for my reef tanks for 4 years so im just curious.

and are snails good or bad? because ive heard contrasting stories.

It's hard to say what your odds are without knowing the source, but it has been known to happen. I've heard mostly negative about "those" snails, but some people actually do like them. I know clown loaches do!

Yeah, it really depends on the source. It seems like usually the snails will be common pond or ramshorn snails, but sometimes there's other kinds as well. I don't have a problem with them, in fact I bring more in to raise for my puffers!

well its a very reliable LFS called tw pet centers, its a small chain store, and i get all my corals and marine stuff there.

I took the plants out of the pots and i didnt see any snails or anything, but idk if they live as microscopic eggs or something

Snail eggs are large enough to be visible to the naked eye.
They looks like a mass of clear jelly.
