thats cool i wanna try it

i mean i see no reason why it wouldnt work plants are very effect natural filtration by themselves

and hey if it cuts down on maintaince im all for it

Very interesting.I would have a hard time keeping fish in a tank that only gets water changes every 6 months though.I would probably be testing the water 2 or 3 times a day,LOL!

No kidding! Besides, how much water is left after six months? This thing called "evaporation" always gets me.

I'm thinking that if you were careful not to distrub the bottom then you could replace evap. water. lol. However you wouldn't be able to vac b/c that would pick up the dirt and you'd have a silt storm in your tank.

APC has an entire subforum devoted to this method if you're looking for more info, but it may require registration. In fact, Diana Walstad (author of the book that this method came from) even posts there, so you're not likely to find a better place for that kind of information.
