I've heard marimo moss balls help with other algae problems - is the green water caused by some kind of algae?

Very nice looking tank by the way

Well guy's I guess it's true it went away by itself, but I did add 50bl. of sand which I think balanced out the bioload and I blacked out the back of the tank looks much better. Here an updated pic.

Had to go out of town for 2 days did a water change before I left came home and tank is cloudy again tested water 0, ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 10 nitrates. my co2 ran out but didn't think that would cause GW again. Stumped?

Hi hop2jr: You have done a good job with your tank. Hope the Wet/Dry will likely improve your tank a lot,

I believe you have some medium-high light plants in there. Your lighting may be insufficient for them to grow well.

Also, a UV Sterilizer should help you out. It works pretty well for algae control in my 145gal tank, although my algae problem was with a white-clear one that attaches to the interior walls and decor. Make sure you get the UV tube in the wattage range you need (tank volume dependent), adjustable low-flow powerhead (depends on the UV lamp wattage and tank volume), a flow meter valve, and make the right calculations. Then adjust by trial and error. It took me 3 to 4 weeks to clear my tank.

As for CO2, I have a few suggetions. You need to use at least three 2L bottles for a 75gal tank (I use 3 on my 45gal tank + 10gal Wet/Dry sump system). Make sure you replace them alternatively so your CO2 injection remains stable.

Remember to sterilize the 2L bottles, and the gas separator. Also attach the gas separator to one of the 2L bottles so the height of the cap is at same level. Take your time to correct gas leakage. Consider a CO2 monitor (drop check), I built a modified DIY version, takes some time but is worth the try (Error of Measurement could be up to 36% but that's OK for planted tanks).

Thanks pepetj Ya trying to not have to fight the algea so I'm going to make ti grow somewhere else going to put a scrubber in before my sump to grow the algea on a screen then pump that into my wet/dry then back to the tank. Just getting all of the parts to plum it out now will be running soon, pics to come.

hop2jr, cool can you take pictures? I'm curious to see how that would set up for fresh water people. Thanks

I've had issues with my tank having an Algae problem, and for a good long while, my water had a green tinge too.

I actually managed to solve it by stripping all the water out of my tank, leaving an inch in the bottom for the Neons (Something they weren't very happy with!). Then I literally took everything out of the tank and scrubbed it under boiling water. I have an undergravel filter, so I cleaned out the uprights, changed the air stones, changed the carbon canisters at the top, and added a whole whack of plants. My tank has been crystal clear for 5 days now, and my Neons are having the time of their lives.

I just wonder whether it might be an idea for you to do the same thing. Algae can grow anywhere, and if any is left in the tank, it multiplies like crazy! I hope you get it sorted. A cloudy tank is a headache when it comes to trying to solve it.
