Aquarium soil for aquarium plants...

Aquar.jpgHi there guys

Please tell me... what type of soil do I put in my tank... I want to plant my plants but don’t know what soil to use. I also got some pretty pebbles that I want to put over the soil... just need to know what soil to use etc.

Please advise?

Here is a beautiful tank setup I found on the net... I’m hoping to get my tank as beautiful as that.

Hi, if you read the substrate section of this article, it should give you some answers. General Guide to Low-Light Planted Tanks

Eco Complete is the substrate that has always been reccomended to me I think most people have had a lot of sucess with it.

It's going to take more than just choosing the "right" substrate to get a tank like that Without knowing anything about that particular tank, I'm going to guess they have very good lighting, a good fertilization schedule, and pressurized CO2 injection.

But as MissMTS said, EcoComplete is a good choice, as is AquaSoil. My plants are thriving in just pool filter sand, though, so if you don't get one of the more expensive substrates that doesn't mean you can't have an attractive tank.

That is a gorgeous tank!! I'm just going to use the same gravel that i've been using the last 3 yrs. The plants i'm going to use are low light plants that can be but don't have to be planted directly into the gravel. They can float or be attached to something. I'm going to see how well I do with those first!

Good luck to you and keep us posted as to how your tank progresses!
