Amazon Sword baby plant questions

Well I am pretty much new to the whole plant thing I have had this Amazon sword plant looking thing for about 2 months it was pretty big to begin with. It had a stem looking thing coming out of it and in the last couple of weeks it appears to have 4 or 5 new little plants growing on it. My question is how do I harvest or get these plants and how do I know that they are ready to be planted. Sorry if I am not using the right terminology for plants I am a beginner here. At any rate I can not wait to plant these new little guys but not sure how I am suppose to do this. Right now they are probably about 2-3 inches in size and the stem is about I would say at least 3 feet long now. I have it in my 70 gal. Fluval venchesa (or whatever it is called) tank LOL. If somebody could just post a link on baby plants and how to harvest them I can do my own research I have tried to google it but it just comes up with sites that are selling plants and yes they give some information but really not what I am looking for.

When the baby plant leaves were about 2-4" long and the roots were very well developed, I twisted the plants off the stem (gently) and planted them in the substrate just as one would plant an adult amazon sword.

I now have roughly 14 baby Amazon Swords growing out in the tank - didn't lose any of them using this method.

Thank you very much for that info. One more question do you cut the stem back to the base of the plant once you have collected the new baby plants. Or do you just let the stem looking thing grow back out again. Anybody know what the stem looking thing is actually called I hate to keep calling it that LOL

Congrats Shaina on all your new baby amazon swords hopefully I will be as lucky!!!

I chose to cut mine off as I had no room for additional plants anyway, but my understanding is that if you are careful that runner could generate more baby plants from the same nodes.

If you chose to leave the runner and see if more grow, please let me know what happens

Good luck!
