I ended up with some duck weed in my tank from along with some plants or fish I brought home from the LFS. I thought it was kinda cool at first but am getting sick and tired of scooping out pounds of this stuff just to be able to feed my fish. I only had my air hose going when the light was off but figured it may help keep it from taking over the whole surface of the tank so I just turned the timer off tonight while scooping out as much of this stuff as I could. I am also concerned about it blocking light from my other plants. My Tiger Lotus is dying off.

I tried to scoop it all out but this almost seems impossible. Some of the pieces are so small they go right through my net. I then took a piece of filter pad and scooped more out with that. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this stuff other than getting every last piece out of my tank?

Borrow someone's goldfish for an hour or so. I used to buy duckweed by the pound for my goldfish. I'd bring it home, rinse it off good, toss it in the pond, and watch it disappear! My goldfish would have it gone within 3-4 hours. I can't find anywhere around here to buy it anymore tho. Do you have any algae eaters/plecos in your tank? Would they eat it?
